The book i am going to write about is the first of the Percy Jackson book series. It is about a 12 year old boy who has had to move schools once a yeah because of some ‘unfortunate events’. Along with being a child with ADHD and dyslexia, he has a neglectful step father and his family does not have much money. He was told that his father died when he was young. As in many books this was a lie. He later finds out that he is a Half-blood, this means half god half human. He finds out his father is Posiedon and he goes on a quest to save the planet. He meets new friends on his journey and the book follows this.
Who were the main characters? Did you like or dislike them? Why?
The main characters are Percy, a sayter (goat from the waist down) called Grover and the daughter of Athena, Anabeth. I like the characters because they are well developed and contrast with each other well.
How did the characters respond to events and each other in each text?
The three characters react to each other well usually, apart from the occasional disagreements over the fate of different things.
What was similar or different in key aspects of the plot, setting and language of the text, compared to other texts?
The plot and story aspect of the book is very unique, however it is similar with Harry Potter, as it is a boy that is always picked on discovering that he is special.
